This is a recipe for a perfect baked potato. Its so simple, I don’t know why I don’t do it more often. The potatoes get a crispy skin on the outside and a deliciously velvety soft texture on the inside. Plus, there not much to do after you rub them with oil except to pop them in the oven. Best side dish ever.

Another great thing is to bake these potatoes and then have a baked potato night, with various toppings and you can actually serve this as a meal.

Ingredients

  • 4 russet potatoes
  • salt
  • pepper
  • butter or margarine
  • olive oil

Instructions

  • 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Prick the potatoes all over with a fork and rub them with oil. Season generously with salt.
  • 2. Place on a baking sheet, and bake for 1 hour. Flip potatoes over halfway through.
  • 3. When the potatoes are fork tender, cut in half and top with butter or margarine. Season with salt and pepper on top. Enjoy!
