This recipe for mushroom tarts is simple and easy. It takes very little time and effort to put together, which makes me a very happy hostess.

Just defrost the puff pastry, cook the mushrooms with some onions, and bake! I love this tart because it can be served as a starter or an hors d’oeuvre if you cut the tart into smaller pieces. Perfect with any cocktail!

Ingredients

  • 8 tbsp margarine
  • 1 lb assorted mushrooms
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 sprigs fresh thyme
  • 2 sheets puff pastry
  • salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • 1. In a saucepan, melt margarine. Add mushrooms, onion and garlic and sauté until mushrooms are tender, about 8 minutes. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • 2. Line bottom of baking pans with parchment paper and brush generously with melted margarine. Roll out puff pastry and cut each sheet into 4 squares. Top with sautéed mushrooms, dividing equally. Season with salt and pepper.
  • 3. Bake until a golden brown crust forms, about 15-20 minutes. Serve!
