This is a recipe for apple walnut cake. This is a great cake to serve for breakfast or brunch, but also wonderful to just have as a snack. The grated apples make this cake moist and delicious.

The best part is it’s very simple to put together. So if you aren’t a baker like me, this apple walnut cake will be easy to put together and delicious to eat. If you don’t like walnuts substitute with your favorite nuts. Enjoy!

Ingredients

  • 2 Granny Smith apples, grated
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted and cooled
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 1/4 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup walnuts, coarsely chopped

Instructions

  • 1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Butter and flour a loaf pan, or line it with parchment paper.
  • 2. Mix apples, sugar, butter and egg in a large bowl.
  • 3. Sift flour, cinnamon, baking soda and salt. Mix dry ingredients into wet ingredients and fold in chopped walnuts. Transfer mixture to prepared pan.
  • 4. Bake until cake is brown and crusty on top and tester inserted into center comes out clean, 50-60 minutes. Cool cake in pan on rack. Enjoy!
