Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup white sugar
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • oil for frying
  • 4 large apples, peeled and cored
  • 1/2 cup confectioners sugar for dusting

Instructions

  • 1. In a medium bowl, mix flour, sugar, baking powder, nutmeg, cinnamon and salt. Slowly, mix in eggs and milk until batter is smooth.
  • 2. Heat oil to 375 degrees Fahrenheit in a deep saucepan or deep skillet.
  • 3. Slice apples into 1/2 inch rings. One by one, dip apple slices in batter and fry, turning once, until golden brown. Do not overcrowd the pan!
  • 4. Drain on paper towel-lined baking sheet. Repeat until all apple slices are fried. Garnish with powdered sugar. Serve!
