The chickpea’s conquest of North America has continued with the opening of the first Canadian location of the popular UAE-based chain Just Falafel, in Toronto.
As the name suggests, the restaurant specializes in numerous variations of the fried chickpea balls, including “American,” “Greek,” “Mexican,” and others. And in a nod to their new Canadian home, that location will also serve poutine.
Toronto has recently experienced a surge of Middle Eastern cuisine, thanks to restaurants like Fat Pasha, and the city’s first “hummusia,” S. Lefkowitz.
Just Falafel also recently opened its first US location, in the San Francisco Bay area. It has contracted to open several more franchises across the county.
