Hamas vs. Hummus Campaign Goes Viral

There’s a new spin to the Ice Bucket Challenge circulating around the Internet: the Hummus Tub Challenge.

Three IDF soldiers have given a twist to the popular Internet sensation the Ice Bucket Challenge to benefit the ALS Foundation in the fight against Lou Gehrig’s disease by smearing their faces in pasty hummus instead of pouring freezing cold water on their heads.

The soldiers have said that this challenge, which they call Hamas vs. Hummus, was meant to emphasize the many great qualities of the delicious Middle Eastern dip in contrast with the lesser qualities of the Gaza-based Hamas, which is a terrorist organization and to also raise money for the Friends of the IDF. The challenge requires participants to spread hummus onto one’s face.

In the video, which was posted to YouTube on August 18, 26-year-old Corey Feldman, who was the brains behind this challenge, said, “Hamas is a terrorist organization that threatens the lives of both Palestinians and Israelis. Hummus, on the other hand, is delicious.”

The three soldiers urged others to accept and take on the Hamas vs. Hummus challenge as well. Feldman also added that if those who were challenged to the Hamas vs. Hummus challenge were to decline, they would have to donate $100 to Friends of the IDF.
