Will Boston bagels unseat New York and Montreal-style for supremacy?
Probably not soon, but they’re taking a big step with the upcoming opening of a full-time Bagelsaurus bakery in the Porter Square neighborhood of Cambridge. The Boston-area Bagelsaurus shop had previously only been a pop-up within Brookline sandwich shop Cutty’s.
The news was spotted by the eagle-eyed Boston Restaurant Talk, which saw the notice on the License Commission page within the City of Cambridge website. The proposed bagel shop “will have seating for 19 and would tentatively be open from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM Tuesday through Sunday.”
We reported earlier that Bagelsaurus was recently voted “Best Bagel in Boston” by an overwhelming margin by the readers of Eater Boston.
On her website, Bagelsaurus’ owner and operator Mary Ting Hyatt describes her bagels as chewy with a crackly exterior, as well as lighter than the New York and Montreal varieties.
